Ouzoud is a Berber word meaning “olive” and referring to the nearby olive trees that shade the path which leads to the bottom of the falls. At the top of the waterfalls there is a dozen of old small mills that are still in use.It is the most visited site in the region. In the surroundings are green valleys, mills, orchards and a Grand circuit of the aforementioned gorges of the El Abid River (in Arabic, «River slaves»). Many local and national associations lead projects to protect and preserve the site. Located in the central part of Morocco, they are considered the most high and beautiful country.
